When it comes to tackling the big sustainability problems, packaging is where Henkel Adhesive Technologies plays a crucial role. Our adhesives, sealants and coatings can be found in a vast array of consumer packaging – from aluminum cans, boxes and bottles as well as in cartons and flexible packaging. But we can’t create sustainability in packaging alone; and this is why I am reaching out to you. We need your help.

On January 7-8, we will be hosting our first Designathon focused on consumer packaging. This event, which will bring university students together with industry experts, will be focused on creating diverse and inspiring solutions for optimized packaging designs or services that promote and facilitate reuse. During the competition phase, we are asking students to submit ideas for reusable consumer packaging that is in line with the Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR) actionable, scalable and capable of making a real-world impact on the market within the next five years

A panel of industry experts will select the top ideas; students with the shortlisted designs will be invited to participate in the all-expenses-paid event in Düsseldorf.  In small groups, participants will develop a concept before pitching it to a jury of experts. All participants will also attend a Masterclass session with leading figures from the sustainable packaging movement.

The winning team will be awarded €10,000. Second and third place teams will win €2,000 and €1,000 respectively.

Our website will be open for submissions throughout November. The shortlisted students will be informed at the beginning of December.
